What do the labels on each card mean?

U+1D400 The Unicode codepoint the style's characters come from. Two styles can look almost identical and still be different characters with different device support. The codepoint is the only reliable way to tell which one you copied.

IGTTRB Platform support. Green renders reliably. Amber works, but breaks on some devices or in some fields. Struck through is filtered out or rejected by that platform.

Facebook offers no text formatting of any kind: no bold, no italics, nothing. Every styled name and post you have seen there is Unicode characters pasted in. That makes it one of the most straightforward platforms for this tool, and also the one where the name field deserves the most caution.

How to use it

For a post or comment, copy a style above and paste it in. It works immediately and there is nothing to configure. For your profile name, read the section below first. The name field on Facebook is governed by policy in a way it is not on Instagram or TikTok, and the consequences of a rejected name are more disruptive than a wasted rename.

What works where

Posts, comments and page names accept Unicode without complaint, and this is where most styled text on the platform lives. Rendering is generally good, since Facebook's apps run on the same font stacks as everything else.

The personal profile name is different. Facebook maintains a real-names policy and reviews names it considers non-compliant, and a name written entirely in decorative characters is more likely to attract that review than a plain one. Facebook also restricts how often a name can be changed, so a rejection is not something you can immediately undo. If you want styled text on a personal profile, a nickname or additional-name field is the safer place for it than the primary name.

Page names are governed differently from personal profiles, which is why business and creator pages carry decorative names far more often than individual accounts do.

Why pages and profiles differ

The real-names policy applies to personal profiles, not to pages. That is the whole reason decorative names are common on business and creator pages and rare on individual accounts.

If you run a page, styled text in the name carries far less risk than the same text on a personal profile.

Posts and comments are the safe ground

Neither is governed by the names policy, both accept full Unicode, and neither limits how often you change your mind. If you want styled text on Facebook without weighing any of the above, that is where it belongs.

Common questions

Does Facebook have built-in formatting?

No. There is no bold, italic or any other formatting anywhere in Facebook's own interface. Every styled name or post on the platform is Unicode characters that were pasted in already looking that way.

Is it risky to style my profile name?

More so than on other platforms. Facebook has a real-names policy and reviews names it treats as non-compliant, and a fully decorative name is more likely to be flagged. It also limits how often names can be changed, so a rejection is not quickly reversible. Posts and page names carry far less risk.

Why do business pages use styled names more?

Page names are governed by different rules from personal profile names. The real-names policy applies to individuals, which is why decorative names are far more common on pages than on personal accounts.
