What do the labels on each card mean?
U+1D400 The Unicode codepoint the style's characters come from. Two styles can look almost identical and still be different characters with different device support. The codepoint is the only reliable way to tell which one you copied.
IGTTRB Platform support. Green renders reliably. Amber works, but breaks on some devices or in some fields. Struck through is filtered out or rejected by that platform.

Bold is the style to reach for when you want emphasis that survives being pasted somewhere with no formatting controls. It comes from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block starting at U+1D400, where it was added so that mathematical papers could distinguish a bold vector from an ordinary variable. That academic origin is why it has better support than almost anything else here: the characters have been in the standard for over two decades, and font vendors have had that long to cover them.
Where it works, and where it breaks
Two properties make this the safest decorative style available. The uppercase, lowercase and digit runs are all fully contiguous, meaning no character had to be borrowed from elsewhere in Unicode to fill a gap. Every letter is drawn from the same design, so nothing looks slightly off. And digits are included, which is unusual; many styles cover letters only, leaving numbers sitting there in plain text looking conspicuously out of place. If your text contains a year, a house number or a score, this is one of the few styles that will handle it cleanly.
For context on where these characters come from: the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block runs from U+1D400 to U+1D7FF, covers 1,024 positions of which 996 are assigned and 28 left reserved, and was added to Unicode in version 3.1 in 2001. Those 28 reserved positions are the gaps that make script and fraktur uneven: bold has none of them. Note that Unicode itself recommends these characters not be used in ordinary text as a substitute for real formatting. Where you have access to genuine bold, use it; these exist for the fields that offer no formatting at all.
Common questions
Is this the same as pressing Ctrl+B?
No, and the difference matters. Ctrl+B applies formatting that a document stores separately from the text. These are different characters. The boldness is part of the character itself. That's what lets it survive being pasted into a field with no formatting support, and also why you can't un-bold it by selecting it and pressing a key.
Will screen readers read this correctly?
Often not, and the reason is worth understanding. A screen reader reads the character's Unicode identity, and these are mathematical symbols rather than letters, so U+1D400 is announced as "mathematical bold capital A" rather than simply "A". A whole sentence in styled characters is read out symbol by symbol and becomes effectively unintelligible. Support varies by reader, voice and settings, but the safe assumption is that decorative characters are not read as text. Keep anything that must be understood in plain characters.
Why do the numbers look different from the letters?
They shouldn't in this style: bold digits come from the same block as the letters. If they look mismatched, your device is probably substituting a fallback font for one range but not the other, which usually means the font it's using doesn't cover the full block.
