What do the labels on each card mean?

U+1D400 The Unicode codepoint the style's characters come from. Two styles can look almost identical and still be different characters with different device support. The codepoint is the only reliable way to tell which one you copied.

IGTTRB Platform support. Green renders reliably. Amber works, but breaks on some devices or in some fields. Struck through is filtered out or rejected by that platform.

Ready-made combos

The same style inside each frame. Type above and these update with it, then tap to copy the whole thing. The number is the character count, which matters if you are pasting into a field with a limit.

Small caps is the most restrained style here and the most awkwardly assembled. Unlike bold or italic, it has no dedicated Unicode block. The characters were added over years for phonetics and linguistics, and a small caps generator is really stitching together letters from several different blocks that happen to share an appearance. Chiefly Phonetic Extensions, but not only.

Where it works, and where it breaks

That assembly has consequences. Because the letters were never designed as a set, they vary slightly in weight and proportion depending on which block each came from. The effect is subtle but visible in a long string. Two letters, Q and X, have no true small-capital form in Unicode at all, so tools substitute the nearest available character and the result is imperfect. Digits have no small-cap forms either and stay plain.

Uppercase input is left as-is, since a capital letter is already the shape small caps is imitating. That means typing in caps produces no visible change for those characters, which occasionally confuses people expecting a transformation.

What it offers in return is legibility. Small caps is among the few decorative styles that stays readable at the size a phone renders a bio, because the letterforms are simply capitals at a reduced height: no cursive joins, no hollow interiors, no combining marks. If you want a profile that looks considered rather than decorated, this is usually the style that does it.

Common questions

Why don't Q and X look right?

Unicode has no true small-capital form for either, so any tool has to substitute the nearest similar character. It is a gap in the standard rather than a fault in the generator, and every small caps tool has the same problem.

Why did nothing change when I typed in capitals?

Small caps imitates the shape of a capital letter at reduced height, so uppercase input is left alone. Type in lowercase to see the effect.

Is small caps more readable than other styles?

Generally yes. The letterforms are capitals at reduced height, with no cursive joins, hollow interiors or combining marks to lose definition when a phone renders them small. That is why it holds up in bios where heavier decorative styles struggle.
